Originally from Toronto, Dr. Cubos holds a Bachelors degree in Physical Education and Health and a Masters degree in Kinesiology, the study of human movement. Having a passion for working with elite athletes, Dr. Cubos has worked in numerous sporting events including the Pan American Games, the World University Games, the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships and the IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championships. He has served as a member of various local and national medical teams and was the Chair of Medical Services for the 2012 Alberta Winter Games.

Originally from both Onoway and Warburg, Richelle Cygan graduated with Honors from the NAIT Personal Fitness Trainer diploma program, following which she pursued the prestigious Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists accreditation for Personal Trainers.

Richelle has a certificate in Sports nutrition from Precision Nutrition and is a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant. She specializes in sports nutrition and works with the general population clients one on one.

Richelle is currently studying Kinesiology (sports performance major) at the University of Alberta, with the intention of completing her master’s degree in sport science. Richelle is currently the head strength and conditioning coach for the AJHL Whitecourt Wolverines.

Leah has taken several courses including myofascial cupping and has a strong interest in equine sports massage and myofascial release. Following his time at the U of A, Dr. Layden graduated with honors from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.   In his time in the USA, Dr. Layden spent time working with a wide range of patients from every day individuals to athletes from the NCAA, NHL, and NFL level providing chiropractic and rehabilitation services.

Susann graduated from MH Vicars Massage Therapy Schools 2200 hour massage therapy program in 2013 and has been a member of the Natural Health Practioners of Canada Association (NHPC) since then.

Before coming to Canada in 2007, Susann worked as a Physiotherapist in Germany, where she also took certified training in Manual Lymph Drainage and Foot Reflexology. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a BSc in Physical Therapy in 2004, Allison had the incredible experience of living in the greater Montreal area for 20 years. It was here that her passion for promoting women’s pelvic health flourished. In addition to her participation in regular courses and conferences she has also received a diploma in Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation from the Université de Montréal.

As a supportive educator and coach, she is devoted to a whole person approach in a safe, inclusive and empathetic environment. Demystifying common pelvic health concerns, offering comprehensive treatment and empowering women of all ages are at the forefront of her interventions.

​Allison also has a special interest in treating altered infant head shape and torticollis. Having taken numerous continuing education and university level courses, she offers a comprehensive approach to treatment. It is much more than an aesthetic issue and can have important consequences on motor development if left untreated. Dr. Tayce Nixon is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor who uses evidence based naturopathy to obtain optimal health and wellbeing. Her practice focuses on family medicine with an emphasis on women’s health, fertility/pregnancy, and pediatrics. She also has a passion for treating chronic and lifestyle related conditions such as irritable bowel disease, celiac disease, diabetes, heart disease, stress and anxiety. Patients are evaluated not only with a detailed clinical intake but also diagnostics (routine blood work, imaging, etc), physical exams, and nutritional assessments. Using diet, nutritional supplementation, botanical medicine, acupuncture, and lifestyle counseling, her goal is to develop an individualized treatment plan that improves the health of her patients.

Dr. Nixon graduated from the four year naturopathic medical program at Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in New Westminster, BC. Previously she obtained her degree in Biology Sciences with a minor in Psychology with Deans Honours at the University of Alberta. Born and raised in Spruce Grove, Zak Palek graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2021 and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2018. In addition, Zak is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Ultimately, Zak’s experience in sport is what lead him to pursue a career in Physical Therapy and Strength and Conditioning. As a result of playing football for 14 years, including 3 years with the University of Alberta, Zak spent a lot of time with rehab professionals, including Dr. Cubos, rehabbing his own injuries.

Zak now enjoys working with a wide range of individuals including elite, recreational, and developmental athletes, as well as everyday people of all ages and activity levels. His treatment approach emphasizes exercise and education complimented by manual therapy.

Joanna Parnell has been a part of the Back on Track Family since January 2006; she has found her home with all the team here at BOT. She graduated from Grant MacEwan College’s 2200-hour massage therapy program in 2000 and has been a member of the Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA) since then.

During her 24-plus years in practice, she has worked in the Spruce Grove area, Alexis and Enoch First Nations Communities. In 2021 she obtained certification in Trauma Informed Care. Joanna loves to learn and further her abilities to provide excellent care for all her patients. Her most recent training was TMJ – Intra and Extra Oral massage in September 2022. Previously she has taken advanced training in therapeutic massage, advanced techniques for the neck, shoulder, and lower back. Joanna has also trained in ergonomics & repositioning, remedial exercise, pre & post-natal massage, infant massage, as well as specific techniques for motor vehicle and whiplash rehabilitation. Tammy Rattee grew up in Spruce Grove and graduated from Grant MacEwan’s massage therapy program in 1999 and has been a member of Natural Health Practitioner’s of Canada since (formerly AMTWP). She has worked in both clinical and spa settings, contracted with a dental office, worked with sports teams and spent many years as a mobile massage therapist catering to families.

Tammy enjoys working with clients of all ages and uses Swedish massage techniques but specializes in deep tissue massage. She recently became a volunteer with Ronald McDonald House Edmonton and will be offering massage therapy services to families. Tammy is also a Grief Recovery Method Specialist and PFCC volunteer in peer support at the Stollery.

In her spare time she can usually be found cheering on her kids at a soccer field, gym or track somewhere. The mountains and a ski hill are her home away from home.

She then relocated to Toronto in 2002 to pursue her chiropractic education, and graduated in 2006. She then moved to Portland, Oregon where she earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic, and Master of Science in Sports Medicine degrees, graduating as valedictorian of her class at the University of Western States.

Dr. Ross has integrated her lifelong passion for sports into practice, gaining valuable experience working with a variety of injuries, and seeking out additional training in rehabilitation. She has been fortunate to work with many local elite athletes, including serving on the medical team for the Spruce Grove Saints. Tammy St Louis is an Integrative Nurse Practitioner who practises using a combination of functional and conventional medicine in order to help people live healthier lives. Her focus is general health for both males and females, with a special interest in health prevention and longevity. She believes that people hold the power to change their health span and she provides actionable, evidence based healthcare to help them do this.

Tammy grew up in Spruce Grove, AB and has lived in the Tri area with her family for many years. She is passionate about improving the health of the community and believes it is never too late to change your health story.

Tammy has over ten years of Nursing experience. Most recently, she obtained her Master of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner from the University of Saskatchewan in 2019 and added her certification in functional medicine through Functional Medicine University in 2023. She has worked in Primary Care in a Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic as well as at the University of Alberta in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Cancer. Meghan graduated from the Edmonton college of Swedish relaxation massage in April of 2003. She has been a member in good standing of the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada Association since then.

Over her career, Meghan has contracted to physicians, has helped with training and recovery programs of both the Edmonton Dragonboat Racing Club and Edmonton Cyclocross athletes. She continued her studies in Hawaii in 2012 where she received her certificate in ManaLomi massage. Additionally, Meghan has her certificate in infant massage and aromatherapy. Brandon Ulmer is a registered psychologist who believes in using evidence-based psychological therapies, with the overall goal of improving health (both mental and physical) and functioning. He received his master’s degree (MSc) In Health Psychology from Stirling University in Scotland, and currently works primarily within the public health system.
